General Orthopedics and Upper Extremity – Manish Patel, M.D.
Dr. Manish Patel has been in private practice in Central Texas since 2001. He specializes in upper extremity surgery, including shoulder replacements, rotator cuff repairs, shoulder arthroscopy, elbow reconstructions, wrist fractures, triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) repairs, wrist arthroscopy, basal joint surgery (arthroscopic and open techniques), Dupuytren’s treatments (collagenase injections and surgery), trigger finger releases, carpal tunnel release, ulnar nerve transposition, fracture treatments, as well as microvascular tendon and nerve repair. He graduated Valedictorian of his class in the College of Natural Sciences at the University of Texas, and went on to graduate with High Honors from Baylor College of Medicine. He completed a five year residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles. He then had the privilege of completing a one-year fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery with the world renowned hand surgeon, David P. Green, MD
Spine Neurosurgery – Dan Peterson, M.D.*
Dr. Daniel Peterson finished his residency at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1994 and has been in private practice in Austin since that time. He is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Peterson has served as chief of staff at University Medical Center Brackenridge and is deeply involved in the quality improvement process. He has broad interests in neurosurgery including brain tumors, aneurysms, pituitary surgery, and degenerative disorders of the spine. He has recently completed an IDE Study with an artificial cervical disc. Dr. Peterson is trained in spinal cord stimulation.
Dr. Peterson has played an active role in neurological clinical research and has served as a clinical assistant professor at the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio. He currently holds the title of Adjunct Clinical Professor, Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Texas, Austin. His professional affiliations include the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the Texas Association of Neurological Surgeons, and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
Dr. Daniel Peterson completed medical school at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, and his internship and residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
Foot and Ankle – Arush Angirasa D.P.M.*
Dr. Arush Angirasa specializes in foot and ankle trauma and reconstructive surgery, including fractures, total ankle implants, Charcot reconstruction, complex revision and limb salvage.
He graduated from the prestigious University of Chicago with an undergraduate degree, which included 4 years of research in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Chicago Hospitals. Subsequently, he attended Scholl College/Chicago Medical School followed by residency at Loyola University Chicago Orthopedic Surgery department, where he was under the tutelage of several distinguished podiatric and orthopedic surgeons. He had the privilege of spending over one year learning and training under Dr. Michael Pinzur, a preeminent Foot and Ankle Orthopaedic Surgeon, and a world-renowned expert in Charcot reconstruction and foot/ankle reconstructive surgery.
Knee – Richard Schram M.D.*
Dr. Richard Schram, MD is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon in Austin, Texas. He received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine and has been in practice for more than 20 years. Dr. Schram has expertise in treating knee joint injury, rotator cuff injury, and arthritis, among other conditions.
General Neurology – Rajat Gupta M.D.
Dr. Gupta is a board-certified Neurologist, with added qualifications in Pain Management. He was in the first group of physicians to earn a Diplomate Certificate for Headache Medicine by the United Council for Neurological Subspecialties. Dr. Gupta has also earned similar certificates by the American Board of Pain Medicine as well as the American Academy of Pain Management. Dr. Gupta is a Chicago native where he earned his BS in Engineering and then an MD from the University of Illinois. He served his Neurology residency in Portland, Oregon and then completed a Fellowship in Pain Management at Johns Hopkins University, later becoming an instructor there. He came to Austin in 1996 and opened his Westlake office in 1998, specializing in headache and pain management.
Electrodiagnostics – Jill Heytens M.D.*
Dr. Jill Heytens, M.D. is a Board Certified Neurologist, and she is also Board Certified in Electrodiagnostic Medicine. Dr. Heytens specializes in Neurophysiologic testing and BOTOX/Myobloc injections.
Dr. Heytens graduated from Boston University School of Medicine in 1989 and has been in practice for 27 years. She completed a residency at Boston University Medical Center and did her fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center.
Dr. Heytens accepts multiple insurance plans including TRICARE, Aetna, and Medicare. Dr. Heytens’s practice is bilingual in English and Spanish. She utilizes state-of-the-art equipment for EMG and NC studies and offers a 24-hour turnaround on reports. Dr. Heytens can normally schedule patients within 24 – 48 hours of your request for these tests.
Pain Management – Johnny White, M.D.
Dr. Johnny L. White is an Anesthesiology Specialist who provides specialized Interventional Pain Management services. He graduated with honors from Duke University School Of Medicine in 1979. Dr. White completed a residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Having more than 40+ years of diverse experiences, especially in Anesthesiology, Interventional Pain Management, Pain Management, Dr. White affiliates with many hospitals in the Austin and San Antonio areas.
Pain Management – Bennett Ezekiel, M.D.
Bennett J. Ezekiel, MD, MPH is an interventional pain management specialist. Dr. Ezekiel grew up in San Antonio and received an undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin in 1995. He went on to receive a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Emory University in Atlanta. After completing his Master’s degree, Dr. Ezekiel worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) where he furthered his training in smoking and tobacco cessation. Dr. Ezekiel earned his medical degree from the Texas Tech Health Science Center School of Medicine and completed his Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Following this, he remained in San Antonio and fulfilled post-doctorate training with a fellowship in pain medicine in the Department of Anesthesiology.
Neuropsychology – Crystal Lantrip, Ph.D.*
Dr. Lantrip currently practices adult neuropsychology in Austin, specializing in acquired, developmental, and degenerative neurologic illnesses in adults. In addition to being a clinical neuropsychologist, she conducts and publishes research on the impact of trauma and emotion regulation on neuropsychological illness and assessment.
Dr. Lantrip is a Doctoral graduate from the University of Texas at Austin and is a proud alumnus of the Longhorn Marching Band! She interned and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Dartmouth College and Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth in clinical neuropsychology and brain imaging research.
Counseling & Psych – David Cantu, LCSW
David is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. He received a M.S. in Social Work from the University of Michigan. He teaches as an adjunct professor at the University of Texas San Antonio. His professional practice focuses on a multidisciplinary and collaborative client care. He assists clients with pre-operation psychological evaluations, child custody evaluations, behavioral testing, individual and family counseling, as well as pain management groups. He is recognized as an expert witness in the Bexar county civil and criminal court. He utilizes a variety of therapeutic interventions such as: crisis intervention, cognitive behavior theory, cognitive theory, narrative theory, and motivational interviewing. He provides counseling services to diverse populations experiencing behavioral issues such as anxiety and depression as well as other diagnosis. He has a ten year history of active duty military service, which allows him to relate to military culture.
